Programme Assistant

Europe in the World


The European Policy Centre is looking for a Programme Assistant (a position equivalent to a paid internship) to join its Europe in the World Programme, for a period of 6 months, starting on 15 January 2024.

Programme Assistant positions are offered for a period of six months (with the possibility of a maximum 6-month extension). The successful candidate should have a solid academic background, a good understanding of EU institutions, basic knowledge in some of the themes covered by the programme, and interest to work in supporting activities (i.e. organising events and carrying out some background research) related especially to the areas described below. 

The following profile is required:
· Masters’ Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Diplomacy or International Development
· Knowledge of EU Foreign and External Relations, EU’s role in the world, and EU security and defence. A particular regional focus is an asset.
· Previous relevant work experience, in policy analysis, organising events and research (internship would suffice);
· Motivation to grow within the organisation as part of the EiW team
· Enterprising and with the spirit of initiative
· Detail oriented, efficient and proactive
· Excellent time-management and strong organisational skills
· Extensive software skills, Internet research abilities and strong communication skills, as well as social media presence and digital tools savvy.
· Polished written and verbal communication skills in English
· Ability to multi-task and take instructions from several people
· Capacity to learn quickly
· Problem-solving oriented in a fast-paced environment

Main duties:
Provide administrative, logistical and information assistance to the programme staff. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Coordinate with programme staff regarding the team’s support needs
· Prepare and manage the organisation of (large) events, workshops and other programme activities
· Arrange external and internal meetings
· Attend meetings and prepare minutes or meeting summaries
· Draft invitations and concept notes as requested
· Liaise with EPC members and other contacts by email and/or phone regarding invitations and meetings
· Receive and direct visitors
· Pro-actively contribute to day-to-day implementation of projects or other team activities
· Conduct research, prepare speaking notes upon request

All EPC programme assistants are offered a CIP contract (“convention d’immersion professionelle”) and are normally expected to be based in
Brussels or in a location with easy access to Brussels.
