This edition examines the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. On 23 September, the European Commission presented a complex package of proposals aimed at forging a “fresh start” for EU migration and asylum policies. Other highlights of this Policy Update include the growing pressure on the European Commission and Frontex to investigate and end pushbacks at the EU’s external borders, an analysis of the recently published Action Plans against Racism as well as on Integration and Inclusion, growing scrutiny on European investor citizenship schemes, and an update on reception conditions in Greece as winter sets in. The Closer Look, by the European Citizen Action Service, highlights the impact of COVID-19 on mobile EU citizens.
